Aceh is the westernmost province of Indonesia situated on the northern tip of Sumatra. The heart of the province is the Leuser Ecosystem, a UNESCO World Heritage site stretching more than 2.6 million hectares from coastal peat swamps to the mountainous interior. It contains some of the only remaining populations of Sumatran orangutans, Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants, and Sumatran rhinos. The province’s economy is dominated by oil, natural gas, mining, agriculture, and fisheries.
