OVERVIEW

USAID SEGAR is seeking a fixed-term employee for the position of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Assistantto support SEGAR Activity in Central Kalimantan area and based in Central Kalimantan Province. This position will combine environmental and overall monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) in Central Kalimantan USAID SEGAR's Office.

USAID’s SEGAR Activity seeks to advance Indonesia’s own development goals of balancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use with inclusive economic and livelihoods development. USAID SEGAR contributes to the 2020 – 2025 USAID Indonesia Country Development Cooperation Strategy, Development Objective 3: Environmental Sustainability Improved, and Intermediate Result 1, Natural Resource Management Improved.

To achieve the overall goal, USAID SEGAR will achieve the following two objectives:

  1. Strengthened inclusive environmental governance in targeted subnational jurisdictions that advance biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management, and sustainable land use.
  2. Increased implementation of environmental and social sustainability goals within private sector natural resource commodity production supply chains that reduces threats to biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions from land use.

USAID SEGAR works in four regions with a total of twelve intervention districts:

  • Aceh: Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh.
  • West Kalimantan: Ketapang, Kubu Raya, Sanggau, Sintang.
  • East Kalimantan: Berau, East Kutai, Mahakam Ulu.
  • Central Kalimantan: Seruyan, West Kotawaringin.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the definition of Activity indicator filed-level base and end lines.
  • Undertake data/information collection through field surveys, sampling, and observation.
  • Undertake regular monitoring visits to USAID SEGAR field activities (including those undertaken by subcontractors, grantees, and consultants) and ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  • Input all activity data on DevResults.
  • Ensure that all supporting documentation for activities is saved and managed in the Activity’s SharePoint.
  • Conduct data verification (participant data, etc.) on key indicator achievements.
  • Contribute to MEL sections for periodic Activity reporting.
  • Help SEGAR site staff/grantees and subcontractors in understanding indicators and using monitoring tools.
  • Undertake site-level environmental mitigation and monitoring on activities.
  • Develop periodic updates to support reporting against the Activity’s Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan (EMMP).
  • Provide visual documentation (photographs and short videos) to support Activity’s communications effort during regular site visits.
  • Compete other MEL-related tasks as required.

JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Degree in environmental sciences (or another related field).
  • Minimum of three years of experience working on M&E, environmental monitoring, data research and analysis, or another related field.
  • Prior Experience with data collection related to the environment, conservation, agriculture, forestry, or sustainable landscapes.
  • Database management experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both written and orally.
  • Experience of working with USAID or other international donor-funded projects in Indonesia preferred.
  • Good computer skills in excel, word processing, database management system/application, office 365, and any internet-based application.
  • Must be detail and quality- oriented and able to work independently or in team.
