USAID and Bappenas Visit Tanjung Keramat Village to Witness Community-Based Mangrove Protection Efforts

USAID dan Bappenas Berkunjung ke Desa Tanjung Keramat untuk Menyaksikan Upaya Perlindungan Mangrove oleh Masyarakat

Apart from protecting the coastal area, the mangrove ecosystem is a habitat for various types of animals. The community in Tanjung Keramat Village, Aceh Tamiang District also realizes how important this ecosystem is to them.

On November 23, 2021, USAID and Bappenas had the opportunity to visit Tanjung Keramat Village to see the activities of communities living in coastal areas and directly adjacent to the mangrove ecosystem there.

During the visit, Datok Penghulu (Village Head) Tanjung Keramat, Jafar Shiddiq, invited the delegation of USAID and Bappenas to plant mangroves with representatives and local community leaders in the village. USAID SEGAR will identify further opportunities for this project to contribute to Tanjung Keramat Village.

Before visiting the village, the USAID and Bappenas delegation were welcomed directly by the Regent of Aceh Tamiang, H. Mursil, SH, MKN in his office. He warmly welcomes USAID SEGAR's presence in Aceh Tamiang and hopes that this initiative can help the community and at the same time support environmental conservation efforts.
